Irish Striker Linked With Swansea Move

Swansea City could be set to strengthen their attacking options with the potential arrival of Adam Idah. The 24-year-old Celtic forward has been linked with a switch to South Wales following Celtic’s early exit from the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Kairat Almaty. Reports suggest the Swans are exploring a multi-million pound deal to bring him in

From Cork to Celtic
Idah’s rise has been steady but impressive. Born in Cork to a Nigerian father and Irish mother, he began his football journey at College Corinthians before joining Norwich City’s academy in 2017. He quickly made his mark at youth level, scoring multiple hat-tricks for the Under-18s and Under-23s and earning Norwich’s Under-18 Player of the Season award.
He made his senior debut for Norwich in the EFL Cup in August 2019 and soon showcased his eye for goal, scoring a hat-trick in the FA Cup against Preston North End. Across 29 Premier League appearances for the Canaries, he scored once, and he added 11 goals in 71 Championship appearances. His performances have also earned him regular call-ups to the Republic of Ireland senior squad, where he has netted five times in 32 appearances.
Celtic became his next step, initially on loan in February 2024. Idah made an immediate impact, helping the Hoops to domestic success and earning a permanent move for a reported £9m in August 2024. Over 76 appearances, he scored 29 goals in Glasgow, including three in the Champions League - most notably a brace in a 4-2 defeat to Aston Villa at Villa Park.
Why Swansea Might Be Interested
Swansea’s interest comes at a critical time. The Swans have struggled for goals in the opening weeks of the Championship, scoring just three times in their first three league games while collecting four points. Adding Idah would provide competition for strikers Zan Vipotnik, Liam Cullen, and Bobby Wales, while bolstering squad depth in a position that has been inconsistent in recent seasons.
Celtic, for their part, may be willing to sanction a sale or loan if a replacement can be secured. Reports suggest that clubs are already in advanced talks, meaning a deal could be completed before the transfer window closes next week.

Swans pushing hard for Irishman.
Have to feel Celtic will only do business for the right fee, expect them to hold out to at least recoup their outlay.
A Good Move for All Parties?
Standing at 6'2", Idah brings a physical presence and experience at the highest levels, including Premier League and Champions League football — attributes that could prove valuable to Swansea manager Alan Sheehan. If he rediscovers his scoring form, he could become a key addition. However, recent performances at Celtic have left some fans disappointed, so he will be keen to prove himself.
For Idah, a move to Swansea represents an opportunity to reignite his career and make an immediate impact in English football. For the Swans, it could be a smart piece of business: a player with top-flight and European experience, hungry to prove himself, arriving at a club desperate for goals and more consistency in the early stages of the Championship season.
